Q. What type of visa do I need to attend New York Film Academy Australia programs?
A. You will need a Student Visa Subclass 500 to study our full-time CUA51015 Diploma of Screen and Media and/or CUA60615 Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media. For more information click here. Please note: Student visas are not available for short-term workshops or high school camps. If you are in Australia on a different type of visa, you may be able to study. To confirm, please contact the International Office about your situation at international.aus@nyfa.edu.

Q. How does the Student Visa application process work?
A. In order to apply for a Student Visa, you will require a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) which will be issued to you by the NYFA Australia International Student Office. We recommend you review the document checklist tool for student visa applications, which can be found here. You will require a CoE for your visa interview at the Australian Embassy in your home country, where they will decide whether to issue you a student visa.

Q. What are the steps to get a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)?
A. You need to Apply to the Program first and submit your admission documents. Once an international student has been accepted into their New York Film Academy Australia Full Time Program, a Letter of Offer containing an invoice with a breakdown of semester tuition will be sent to you by email. A 25% Enrolment Deposit is required to confirm your place in the program. This will be applied to your first semester tuition fees. Upon receiving the deposit, the New York Film Academy Australia will provide a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).

Q. How long does it take to get a CoE and visa?
A. We can issue the CoE very quickly once you are accepted into the program and submitted your deposit. The wait time for visa appointments varies between countries and at different times of the year. More information on application processing times can be found here. We recommend you apply early to ensure plenty of time to organise your relocation to Australia.

Q. Can I work in Australia on student visa?
A. Yes, Student visa holders can work a maximum of 40 hours per fortnight when your course is in session, and only once the course has commenced. During your scheduled course break you can work more than 40 hours. More information on student visa conditions can be found here.

Q. How long can I stay in Australia on a student visa?
A. Your student visa will last for the duration of the Diploma or Advanced Diploma program that you are enrolled in. You are allowed to stay in Australia till the end date of your student visa.
More information on the length of stay for Student Visas can be found here.

Q. What are the estimated living costs in Australia?
A. The recommended budget is $1750 ($AUD) per month for living costs (housing, food, transportation) and additional funds for travel and other expenses. Your actual living costs may be higher or lower depending on your choices. More information can be found here.
