The International Student Office at the New York Film Academy Australia is here to assist students from outside Australia in studying at our campus in the Gold Coast.
Q. What type of visa do I need to attend New York Film Academy Australia programs? A. You will need a Student Visa Subclass 500 to study our full-time CUA51015 Diploma of Screen and Media and/or CUA60615 Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media. More information can be found at https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500. Please note: Student visas are not available for short-term workshops or high school camps. If you are in Australia on a different type of visa, you may be able to study. To confirm, please contact the International Office about your situation at international.aus@nyfa.edu.
Q. How does the Student Visa application process work? A. In order to apply for a Student Visa, you will require a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) which will be issued to you by the NYFA Australia International Student Office. We recommend you review the document checklist tool for student visa applications which can be found at: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/web-evidentiary-tool. You will require a CoE for your visa interview at the Australian Embassy in your home country, where they will decide whether to issue you a student visa.
Q. What are the steps to get a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)? A. You need to Apply to the Program first and submit your admission documents. Once an international student has been accepted into their New York Film Academy Australia Full Time Program, a Letter of Offer containing an invoice with a breakdown of semester tuition will be sent to you by email. A 25% Enrolment Deposit is required to confirm your place in the program. This will be applied to your first semester tuition fees. Upon receiving the deposit, the New York Film Academy Australia will provide a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
Q. How long does it take to get a CoE and visa? A.We can issue the CoE very quickly once you are accepted into the program and submitted your deposit. The wait time for visa appointments varies between countries and at different times of the year. More information on application processing times can be found at: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500#aboutVisa-index-6. We recommend you apply early to ensure plenty of time to organise your relocation to Australia.
Q. What are the estimated living costs in Australia? A. The recommended budget is $1550 ($AUD) per month for living costs (housing, food, transportation) and additional funds for travel and other expenses. Your actual living costs may be higher or lower depending on your choices. More information can be found here: https://www.studyinaustralia.gov.au/english/live-in-australia/living-costs
