Australia’s largest and most famous city, Sydney is home to beautiful beaches, iconic buildings, historic landmarks, award-winning restaurants, and a uniquely vibrant culture. Sydney served as the location for numerous blockbusters such as The Great Gatsby, The Matrix, Stealth, Babe, Crocodile Dundee, Wolverine, Mad Max The Road Warrior, and Mission Impossible II.
SYDNEYThe city of Sydney is considered the jewel of the southern hemisphere, with one of the most beautiful harbors, great surf beaches, a magnificent opera house, and an eclectic film, and music scene that adds to an art and culture environment. It is also one of the safest cities on the globe.
Students can catch a ferry across the glittering Sydney harbor; climb the iconic arch of the Harbour Bridge; visit golden beaches nestled in alcoves or explore the beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens — a tranquil oasis within the city center overlooking the spectacular harbor.
The glamorous fine dining and nightlife in Sydney is constantly buzzing within the city center and surrounding suburbs. There is something for everyone, from cutting-edge contemporary venues to relaxed watering holes.
Sydney is very accessible to students whether by foot or public transportation (train, bus, ferry or taxi).
NYFA SYDNEY ENROLLMENTAll NYFA programs have an open enrollment. No previous experience is required. Students who enroll should be prepared to live and breathe their work during the course of their studies. Given the nature of filmmaking and the necessity of working in crews, students must be willing to devote themselves not only to their own projects, but to their classmates' projects as well.
As space is limited, we recommend early application to guarantee a place in the program of your choice.
DAILY SCHEDULEAll programs are run Monday through Friday; however, film projects and production workshops take place on the weekends. In addition, some classes may be held on Saturdays.
The schedules are rigorous, however, students will have the opportunity to explore the nearly infinite cultural offerings around town. The evening workshops meet three evenings a week from 7:15-9:45 p.m. Similar to the full-time course, films are shot on the weekends and some classes may be held on Saturdays.
