Hands-on 4-Day Fundamentals of Film Directing

NYFA Australia’s short-term workshops are delivered in-person at our purpose-built campus on the Gold Coast. Perfectly designed for working professionals, full-time or part-time students, and can even be an after school learning option.

Students are immersed in hands-on programs in the visual and performing arts designed to teach them creative and technical skills in their chosen field. Workshops are designed to be adapted for a variety of people, with either little or no experience, as well as trained professionals who wish to deepen their craft, or refresh on techniques, or even just to create a new showreel for their professional portfolio!

4-Day Fundamentals of Film Directing

Develop your skills as a director in this hands-on workshop. Learn the fundamentals of visual storytelling, character analysis, working with actors, script breakdown and working with a crew.

Gain a deeper understanding of the role of the Director and what is required of a Director in pre-production, production and post-production.

What you’ll learn in this workshop:

• Learn how to communicate your ideas to professional actors in a clear and practical way, maximising and understanding of the possibilities of the rehearsal process
• Develop your directorial voice and how to communicate it effectively
• Gain greater insight into the Director's role across pre-production, production, and post-production stages
• Learn how to develop the artistic and dramatic form of the story
• Explore how to communicate your vision, guide your crew and work with actors on set

Workshop Details:

Location: NYFA Australia Southport Campus, Gold Coast

Program Duration:

• 1 evening per week, for 4 consecutive weeks
• 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm (AEST)

Tuition Fees: $760 (AUD)

A non-refundable application fee of $50 (AUD) and the above tuition fee will be required upon application.
